Oh yes, they’re a pain in the neck and from the age of 2 til 45, they can drive you crazy, but have one anyway because I have 4.
The Yiddish word is “Nachos.” The ch is guttural like you’re about to throw up. Nachos is the joy that can only come from children, a parental pride, like maybe it was worth it after all.
I see less and less long term investments and more & more short term gains. There is no longer term investment than a kid. Try it, I recommend it and I’m an expert at trying.

Kids are great! And really fun to make ART with too! We are all born creative and kids remind us of that.
My fiance and I would love to have kids. But with both of us coming from parents who divorced when we were very young; friends who are getting married and divorced, married, pregnant and divorced; pregnant, married and divorced left and right; lack of money (I read somewhere it costs over $1 million to raise a child till the age of 18); the impending doom of the end of the world and the weighing question of if it's fair to bring a child into this world with what we're doing/have done to it; if we should even have our own kids or adopt and if we're being selfish by wanting our own kids versus someone else's...
So yeah, being 25 & 28, engaged for 4 years togeather for 6, we're left wondering if we'll ever get the joy of bringing one of our own into this world.
I love reading about people who have all these issues, "oh my parents were divorced" or "children need so much time". What they are not realizing is that childhood is just a small part of the lives of these offspring. The rest is as adults who will be part of your aging life. this is called FAMILY. It is a nice concept and if you've never had one, you might like it. If you know about family, then you know it is the greatest treasure you possess.
I write art books for kids, and that's my second passion: my first? My family.
Dear Karmene,
my parents conceived me during the middle of WWII. Dad told me later, "There is no good time to have a child."
Yes, even though the world is forever ending, somehow we muddle through.
Grab your piece of life.
